MTF Announces Winners of the 2015 Technical and Achievement Awards

Edison, NJ — The Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation (MTF) recently announced winners of the 2015 Technical and Achievement Awards The awards were presented via webinar on May 17, 2016. This series of awards recognizes excellence in tissue donation and recovery services.

“It is a privilege to recognize our Recovery Partners and their staff for the exceptional work they do throughout the year. Their excellence in tissue donation greatly enhances our ability to honor the wishes of donors and their families and to save and enhance the lives of transplant recipients.,” said Mike Real, Vice President, Procurement.

ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

Percentage Increase in Fresh Tissue Donors – in recognition of the highest increase in younger MTF musculoskeletal donors from 2014 to 2015 presented to Legacy of Life Hawaii.

TECHNICAL AWARDS

Golden Glove Award – In recognition of excellence in the sterile recovery of allografts for transplantation presented to Nebraska Organ Recovery System and Donor Network of Arizona.

Golden Scalpel Award – In recognition of excellence in the recovery of soft tissue presented to Gift of Life Michigan and Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency.

Golden Hourglass Award – In recognition of excellence in facilitating the release of donors presented to LifeAlaska Donor Services.

Golden Hourglass Award, Most Improved – In recognition of the largest improvement in donor releases from 2014 to 2015 presented to LifeShare Transplant Donor Services of Oklahoma.

Golden Graft Award – In recognition of superior surgical technique in the skin allograft recovery presented to Donor Network West and Intermountain Donor Services.

Trinity Award – In recognition of excellence in the recovery of fresh bone allografts based on hemipelvis recovery rates and the absence of bioburden on fresh Trinity grafts presented to Wisconsin Tissue Bank and LifeSharing.

Neon Block Award – In recognition of excellence in the recovery of fresh osteochondral allografts based on en-bloc recovery rates and absence of bioburden on fresh osteochondral grafts presented to LifePoint.

Emerald Award of Excellence – In recognition of achieving best practice levels in all key performance areas presented to MTF Tissue Services – New York, Gift of Life Michigan, Wisconsin Tissue Bank, Donor Network of Arizona, and LifeBanc.

Platinum Partner Award – This award is presented to the recovery partner with the best overall performance in all critical technical categories including donor release, culture/bioburden results, soft tissue rejection rates, skin recovery, and hemipelvis and en-bloc recovery rates presented to Gift of Life Michigan.

In addition to the Technical and Achievement Awards, MTF presented recognition awards for attendance at its Learning Series webinars, which included — 3 Partners at the Gold Level. It also acknowledged all Partners who achieved best practice levels in any of the performance categories during 2015.
